Real Party: Pirate Birthday

This awesome Real Party was submitted by Laura Stadnyk. With a little assistance from family and friends, she threw an incredible pirate party for her daughter. The ship is amazing!

I would have to say I have officially thrown one of the best birthday parties. I'm not sure I can top this next year, BUT I will try!!  For my daughter's 3rd birthday party this year, I rented out the community centre and threw a huge pirate-themed party.

My husband and his cousin built a boat the night before as the center piece to hold the pirate cake pops. They are carpenters by trade, so they used left over wood & made the boat using their own tools. We are friends with a tattoo artist so he drew the skull & bones on the sail & my daughters name on the back of the boat.

We had a specialty cake made into a treasure box complete with candy necklaces, ring pops and chocolate coins. [Editor's Note: the treasure chest cake is by Cake Appeal in Calgary!]

I found the idea for the invitations on Pinterest. They actually turned out really great for a non-crafty mom!

We had a few games for the kids to enjoy: pin the treasure chest on the map, cookie decorating station, colour your own pirate flags (from the Disney Jr website), fun photo area, and a basketball net.

We also downloaded some pirate rock from the Disney Jr show Jake and the Never Land Pirates. so the kids were rocking out!  We chose to host an evening party from 5 - 8 pm so all the kids could get their naps in before the party.

It looks like the kids had a blast at this pirate party - thank you for sharing, Laura!
